Ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary election in the State for the 16th lok Sabha, Deputy Election Commissioner of India Ashok Shukla would be arriving here tomorrow.
The central election official's visit is said to be in connection with assessing the preparedness of the State authorities to hold the democratic exercise in a free and fair manner.
Among others, Ashok Shukla is scheduled to attend a meeting with Deputy commissioners and Superintendents of Police at Old Secretariat conference hall tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, a special drive launched ahead of the parliamentary election by Bishnupur district police in different places of the district reportedly led to the recovery of 300 litres of locally brewed liquor, brewing materials (Hamei) and utensils.
A police source conveying that the items were recovered today from Thinungei and nachou Chingdong areas of the district, said the drive was specially carried out to ensure peaceful campaign and polling for the Lok Sabha election.
Under the supervision of the SP (Bishnupur) N Herojit, the district police led by OC in-charge of Bishnupur police S Hemanta carried out the drives, the source said.
