Trade union strike paralyses normal life

Imphal, September 02 2015:
The nationwide strike called by the trade union hit normal life in Imphal on Wednesday.
The strike has also impacted on banking and transport services sectors.
Organised by the Co-ordinating Body of Trade Union, Manipur, a conglomerate of Manipur State units of AITUC, CITU, INTUC, TUCC, UTUC, AICCTU, HMS and All India Federations and Associations of Services and Industries, the State saw over 5 lakh workers and employees of organised and unorganised, registered and unregistered unions and associations representing more than 130 unions and association participating in the protest.
All the State and Central Government Offices including banks remained shut today owing to the strike.
The Khwairamband market wore a deserted look and transport services were halted for the day.
Sit-in-protests were also staged at over 20 different places in and around Imphal today.
