Imphal, November 03:
The All Manipur Die-in-Harness Appointment Demand Committee (AMDIHADC) has strongly condemned the recent remarks of the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat belittling cause of the Committee.
Reacting to the duo's staunch opposition that a 'handful of individuals' in their pursuit for a specific agenda had been causing hardship to the general public, the Committee warned it would be a misconception to undermine its genuine demand as the issue going out of Government's control cannot be ruled out.
Elucidating, the Committee reminded that numbers do not matter as the emphasis should be on assessing cause of the matter and the fact that all genuine movement can command support from numerous quarters.
Moreover, it should be noted that AMDIHADC's demand is not without substance as the SPF Govt had appointed son of assassinated IGP Thangthuam inspite of the die-in-harness scheme being abolished.
Either the Government stick to any decision it had taken or accommodate members of the Committee rather than twist existing rules and regulations to please certain influential family, decried the body referring to the State Cabinet entertaining proposal for appointment of Thangthuam's son as a graduate teacher and subsequently posted in Bengali High School.
The Committee also assured that it would retract from its present posture and call off ongoing agitation in case Chief Minister O Ibobi could explain any improvement in State's financial condition after the scheme was abolished and under what criteria was the slain IGP's family entertained.
Turning its ire on the Agriculture Minister, the Committee said Parijat's remark is totally against the spirit of the CPI that claim to a be political organisation whose chief principle is welfare of every citizen.
