The five day 29th State Level Science Exhibition for School Children has begun from today at Bengali High School premises with Education Minister L Nandakumar, for Director of Education Department E Yaima and Director of Education (Schools) S Budhachandra (IAS) as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In all 20 students would be selected from this Exhibition to represent the State in the forthcoming Eastern India Science Fair.
Presenting the welcome cum key-note address, Science Promotion Officer of Directorate of Education (S) L Viramani disclosed that against 86 students who had applied to participate in the Exhibition, 72 have reported for the same till date displaying their respective models.
The Officer also expressed confidence that the exhibition being held under the theme of 'Science and Technology for Sustainable Development' would create awareness on science apart from imbibing scientific temperament to the student community.
Further expecting that all the applicants would report for the same by tomorrow, Viramani informed that all the participants were position winners at the district/zonal level competitions.
The exhibition also provides opportunities to the students to showcase their excellence and skills in written and oral quiz competition, work experience camp and science model exposition.
selected students would participate in the Eastern India exhibition to be held at Kolkata in January next year and those selected from the Kolkata meet will represent East zone in the national level competition.
In addition to releasing a souvenir in connection with the State level competition, the Education Minister also inspected science models as encouragement to the young exhibitors.
