Mapao Zingsho sets cleanliness example for people of State

Mapao Zingsho, located in Senapati district, has become an example for all to learn to keep our surrounding clean.
Speaking exclusively to The Sangai Express, Mapao Zingsho village chairman ZV Sunder said the village was earlier known as Mapao Phunyeiwon and the village was first situated at almost 4 kms away from the foothill.
In 1965, the villagers shifted here and changed the name to Mapao Zingsho.
The village has around 120 households and has a population of more than 900 people.
"In terms of developmen
tal work under the initiative of the State Government, road construction under PMGSY was initiated.
However, the construction was halted without completing the work.
Therefore, the villagers contributed from their own pockets and constructed the remaining portion of the road," the village chairman informed.
"The village is known for its cleanliness since time immemorial.
A social work is being conducted on every second Saturday in and around the village.
In other days, villagers clean their respective surrounding.
We also present awards to selected people for their contribution in keeping the surrounding neat and tidy," he added.
"There is climate change and everyone can not only see the result but also experience its impacts.
Not only will clean environment and preservation of forest restore the ecological balance but also make this place a better place for us to live in," the village chairman said.
The village authority chairman also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh for acknowledging the natural beauty and pollution free environment of the village while urging the people of the State to collectively works towards keeping the surrounding clean and preserving forest.
