AR, BSF and others observe International Yoga Day

In consonance with the initiative started by the Govt of India, International Yoga Day was celebrated following all protocols issued by Ayush Ministry by troops of Assam Rifles of various sectors of Keithelmanbi, Ukhrul, Pallel, Churachandpur and Kakching under the aegis of IGAR South to propagate yoga and good health practices.
The word 'yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to unite'.
As per yogic scriptures the practice of yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the universal consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, man & nature, said a statement of IGAR (S).
Saying that the event was organised to improve the lifestyle of troops amidst the COVID-19 pandemic as yoga brings harmony in all walks of life and aids in disease prevention, health promotion and management of many lifestyle-related disorders, it added that today, everybody has conviction about yoga practices towards the prevention of COVID-19, maintaining good health and immunity.
Following all the guidelines of COVID-19 protocol including social distancing and use of protective equipment, the event was organised in a clean and calm environment under the serene hills and plain of Manipur, it added.
The event was preceded by creating awareness about COVID-19 pandemic preventive measures and educating troops and families to perform yoga at home.
CCpur
The International Yoga Day was also celebrated at STC BSF Churachandpur.
On the occasion, officers and troops of STC BSF Churachandpur practised yoga for 45 minutes by following social distancing norms, said a statement of STC BSF CCpur.
As per guidelines of Force Headquarter and Ministry of AYUSH, the emphasis was laid on doing home yoga, it said and added that the family members staying inside campus observed the Yoga Day at their respective homes.
The rest of the troops were segregated into different groups and each group was placed in different places, it added.
Moreh
The One Stop centre Tengnoupal under the supervision of Centre for Development Activities (CDAC), Wangjing observed International Yoga Day at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung, Manipur border town Moreh.
During the function, Yoga instructor Konthoujam Kanta demonstrated yoga asanas to the attendees.
PIB, ROB
All officers and staff of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Imphal, celebrated the 6th International Yoga Day, 2020 by participating in an hourly Yoga session at auditorium of the ROB, Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak.
The Yoga session was led by Additional Director General of ROB and PIB Imphal, SN Pradhan and it was connected virtually with the yoga session of the Directorate General, North East Zone, Guwahati and all the Regional Outreach Bureaus and Field Outreach Bureaus in the North East Region offices (Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh) .
While the country was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in celebrating the 6th International Yoga Day.
In his speech, PM gave the message of basic oneness of humanity and urged the people to do yoga at home with their families.
Thoubal
Thoubal district Branch Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) observed International Yoga Day at Kshetrisanglen Thoubal, in association with Bharat Vikas Parisad Thoubal Sakha and Lions Club, Thoubal, sponsored by Dhanabir Singh of Alembic Pharmaceutical Ltd, Corazon Division.
On the other hand, a one month Yoga celebration organised by Junior Social Scientist Hub, Kakching in coordination with Wizard Boarding, Kakching Makha Lou and H Keinahal Memorial English School, Langmeidong concluded today.
During the closing programme held at Phunal Shambum, Chandel District, National yoga player Dinier Naorem demonstrated some selected yoga asanas while writer Biramangol Pukhrambam delivered a speech on the topic "Synthesis of Pakhangba and Law of Conservation of Energy" .
As part of the programme, winners of English translation competition of Sahitya Ratna RK Jhaljit's poem "Udeshya" were felicitated with prizes.
The winners of the competition are JSA Panorama Quench of H Keinahal School, Langmeidong, Dinier Naorem of JNV Sandumba Achouba, Yengkhom Nandaraj of Kakching Makha High School and Pukhrambam Artina Devi of Victory High School Kakching.
