Landslide hits rain-battered NH 37

Another 50 feet long road stretch of National Highway-37 at K Sinam village in Kangpokpi district has been cut off due to a landslide since yesterday.
Speaking to media persons today at its office at MG Avenue, Thangal Bazar, Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) president H Ranjit has appealed NHIDCL, the agen- cy which has been assigned with the road repairing work, to complete the repair work within two to three days time by sending all possible help and machinery.
He said that TDC and Drivers' Union teams have inspected the landslide affected area.
Many loaded trucks are stranded on the Highway due to the landslide.
TDC will extend every possible help in repairing the road stretch, he said.

Speaking further, he informed about their decision to call off the proposed protest of keeping trucks away from the ISBT complex as the Government has responded to their demands positively.
He also lauded the Transport Directorate, MSPDCL and PWD for installing lamps inside ISBT complex by working jointly on their request.
An F-17 crane and an excavator along with 10 TDC members are being stationed at ISBT complex to provide assistance to the trucks, he said.
Bus drivers and handymen who rendered their service in transporting returnees to the State are completing their quarantine period on June 23.They will be sent home after a felicitation programme to honour their service, he added.
