UADC inspects women market ahead of inauguration

Ukhrul, April 18 2018:
Members of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) led by Chairman Dickson Kumrah today inspected the ongoing women market construction work at Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
During the inspection, Dickson Kumrah said that the drive is being carried out to ascertain the work progress and whether the women market would be possible for inauguration on the set date - April 24 .
Honpam, the supervisor who was at the work site, expressed confidence of completing the work before the date of inauguration.
He said that almost 90 pc of the most difficult construction work has been completed.
What is left are flooring, wiring, fixing glasses, painting and the works for these are progressing smoothly.
Dickson Kumrah instructed the supervisor not to comprise with the work quality because of the time frame.
The Chairman also expressed contentment with the keen interest shown by the Chief Minister to develop the hill districts of Manipur.
"Ava Keithel" is the name proposed for the market shed by the Chief Minister said Dickson and added that it is a combination of two dialects 'Ava' mother in Tangkhul while Keithel refers to market in the Meitei language.
The CM has also been urged to hand over the women market at Ukhrul to the district council after its completion as per Manipur Hill Area District Councils Act 1971, chapter HI, section 29 clause VI, said Dickson.
Minister for Tribal Affairs and Hills N Kayisii will visit Ukhrul tomorrow to inaugurate the quarters cum launching programme for town beautification drive at DRDA Hall, added Dickson.
