4th MCA Plate Tournament : PCC, Al-Ameen emerge victorious; stage set for quarter finals

Todays league matches of the 4th Plate Cricket tournament, being organised by Manipur Cricket Association saw PCC, Mayai Koibi post a 38 run victory against ESU, Wangkhei at Langthabal Public Ground while Al-Ameen, Lilong scripted 93 runs victory over SSU, Singjamei at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
In the Group C league match staged at Langthabal Public Ground, PCC won the toss and elected to bat first.
They made a slow but good start as Vidyasagar scored 87 runs off 115 balls but the other batsmen could not live upto their expectations to post a total of 165 for 9 in 35 overs.
Gibson also scored 27 runs in 39 balls in this innings while Premchand and Bhogendro together added 17 runs.
ESU's bowlers maintained good bowling economy in this innings but failed to take wickets in time.
Chitaranjan and Herojit picked up two wickets each in 7 overs they bowled while Wilson, Shankar and Rajeev registered one wicket each in their names.
Though the target seemed easy in the beginning, ESU's batsmen could not stand in front of good bowling performances from Ranjan and Ajay Patel of PCC and bundled out for just 127 runs in 31.5 overs.
Shankar opened up for ESU to make the highest of 31 runs in 56 balls while Shivaji gathered another 20 runs off 29 balls.
Herojit and Mehul also contributed 16 runs each in this chase that failed short to reach the target to hand their rival 38 run victory.
Ranjan and Ajay Patel enjoyed 4 wicket hauls in this innings while Premchand and Vidyasagar of PCC claimed one wicket each.
Later Vidyasagar was named man of the match.

Luwangsangbam, Sahil Saifi hit a century to give Al-Ameen a 93 run victory.
Opting to bat first, Al-Ameen got off to a boisterous start as Sahil Saifi blasted off 104 runs off 95 balls while Al Bashid and Babar Azam scored 38 and 31 runs to set the target of 210 runs losing four wickets in 35 overs.
SSU's Devan claimed two wickets in this inning while Boem and Deepankar took one wicket each.
The chase proved very tough for the Singjamei side as they finished the making just 116 runs for 9 in 35 overs.
Bablu of SSU scored a total of 29 runs off 57 balls while Devan and Bonny together fetched 33 runs.
Bowlers of Al-Ameen shone in innings as Fuzail, Safnan, Rajat and Babar concerted equal efforts to claim two wickets each while Sameer picked up one wicket for 10 in 5 overs restricting the chase midway.
Sahil Saifi who hit his second ton of the tournament was adjudged man of the match.
The quarter final match of the tournament will start from April 20 at both venues.
