Imphal, April 18 2018:
Altogether 34 people have been found working as ward attendants at JNIMS for around 11 months without authorisation or knowledge of the authority concerned.
One head of department of JNIMS, on condition of anonymity, said that the JNIMS Deputy Director (Administration) issued a circular on April 12 seeking details of regular and contract non-teaching staff working at different departments, offices, hostels and wards of JNIMS.
Notably, appointment of ward attendants at JNIMS is outsourced to a private firm.
In the process of collecting details of non-teaching staff for submission to the Deputy Director (Administration), a list of 34 ward attendants who joined service at JNIMS on May 27, 2017 was found.
But no signature of the Medical Superintendent could be found on the particular list as well as on their order copy pertaining to their internal transfer and posting.
As it became dubious, the matter was enquired with the Medical Superintendent and the Medical Superintendent clarified that the 34 ward attendants were never given any internal transfer or posting.
On further enquiry, the JNIMS Director asserted that no order was ever issued for appointment of the 34 ward attendants.
Subsequently, it was established that the 34 persons have.been working as fake ward attendants for the past 11 months.
The 34 people joined JNIMS through an outsource firm named ISSS located at Kongba Keithel.
Their joining reports were signed by one N Amit on behalf of ISSS, said the head of department However, the 34 individuals were not paid any salary even though they have been working as ward attendants at JNIMS for 11 months.
Earlier in 2016, mere was a case of appointing 35 ward attendants to JNIMS through a private firm Brave Bronco Security and they are still working now.
There is shortage of manpower including ward attendants at JNIMS but outsourcing the process of appointment of ward attendants can lead to many cases of fake appointments, added the head of department.
