Workers Education Day

The Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education & Development, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Regional Directorate, Imphal, observed Workers Education Day at the conference hall of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, Palace Compound, Imphal, today.
MK Preshow Shimray, Deputy Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly and Chairman of Dottapant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education & Development eminent economist Professor Dr N Mohendro Singh, graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.
KK Singh, former Regional Director, DTNBWE & D and Dr N Ranjana Devi, Director, ICM and Assistant Professor Chinglen Meisnamba also attended the occasion as resource persons.
Speaking at the occasion MK Preshow Shimray said that DTNBWE&D should strive to make the people, specially those in remote areas, aware of the various benefits provided by the Government such as MGNREGA, NFSA and other developmental schemes.
The Deputy Speaker also emphasised the need to organise more skill development programmes in remote corners of the State.
Former Regional Director KK Singh stressed on the need for skill up-gradation of workers in Manipur by introducing a well defined labour policy.
He also advocated for vocational studies in the educational institutions.
Dr N Ranjana, Director, ICM; Chinglen Meisnamba, Assistant Professor, Economic Department, MU and Dr N Mohendro Singh also spoke on the occasion.
