Sit in protest against abolition of Bengali High School

Students of Bengali Primary School and Bengali High School today staged a sit-in-protest at the school gate located at Babupara, Imphal demanding the State Government to revoke the order to abolish the schools.
The Director of Education (S) earlier issued an order that the schools shall be abolished and the students of Bengali Primary School would be shifted to Moirangkhom Junior High School and students of Bengali High School to Shymasakhi High School while the teaching and non- teaching staffs must report to the Director of Education (S) for new postings.
Till today students of the school have been boycotting classes against the move of the State Government.
In a brief interaction with media persons, K Rohit a class VIII student of the school said that the students are not ready to leave the school and the State Government should revoke the order as soon as possible.
The students collectively urged the State Government to locate Ramkrishna Mission Centre at another suitable place.
The school was established in 1903 .
Protesting students also appealed to the authority concerned to consider the academic career of the poor students.
Students also warned of launching other forms of agitation and added that the State Government should be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out of it.
