BSNL highlights activities

Plans are afoot to increase the number of Based Transceiver Station (BTS) and Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) in order to improve mobile phone communication and data services, General Manager of BSNL Manipur, J Lunkim said.

Briefing the activities of BSNL in connection with Digital India Week observance at BSNL Bhawan, J Lunkim said that there is proposal for increasing the number of 2G/3G BTS under Phase IV.
There are 200 BTS in the State at present.
70 more BTS are proposed to come up.
BSNL has also communicated to the Power Grid Corporation of India to increase the number of OFC in the State, Lunkim said.
The BSNL has conducted awareness programme for school children in this regard as part of Digital India Week observance programme launched by PM Narendra Modi, Lunkim said.
A mela for promotion of BSNL service was also held, he added.
