JCILPS Women Wing tries to storm Speaker's residence

Members of JCILPS Women Wing tried to storm Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar's private residence at Keishampat at around 10 am today.
The Speaker was about to leave for Assembly complex when the womenfolk reached there.
The womenfolk gathered at Keishampat Lairembi community hall in the early morning and waited for the Speaker to come out from his residence.
After they noticed that the Speaker was not inside his vehicle when his cavalcade was moving out from his residence, the JCILPS Women Wing members went towards his residence.
However, the police personnel deployed at Keishampat junction and Speaker's security escort closed the gate before they could reach the Speaker's residence.
Later, they were allowed to enter the residential complex under heavy security of Imphal West district police.
However, they did not the Speaker there.
It is suspected that the Speaker might have taken an alternate route from his residence to reach the Assembly complex.
Speaking to reporters, a JCILPS Women Wing member said that they came there to stage demonstration to demand withdrawal of MRVTMW Bill and passing of a new law to protect the indigenous people of the State.
The women volunteers stayed at Keishampat Lairembi community hall till late night.
Additional security measures have been taken up to prevent any untoward incident near Speaker's residence.
