JCILPS Women Wing volunteers storm Speaker's house

A large number of protesters from JCILPS Women Wing stormed the residence of Speaker Th Lokeswar at Keishampat Keisham Leikai in Imphal West on Wednesday demanding that an effective bill be introduced and passed in the current Assembly Session to protect the indigenous people.
Police blocked them near the residential gate, but they managed to enter the courtyard.
There, the demonstrators squatted and waited for the Speaker.
But they could not meet him.
Enraged, they left the residence.
Later, speaking to pressmen, Nupi Samaj secretary general Th Ramani, who was among the demonstrators, said they came to meet the Speaker to impress upon him that Manipur needs to strong ILP bill to safeguard the indigenous population of the State.
Poireileimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup president L Memchoubi said the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) is upset over the Government's failure to introduce a fresh ILP bill in the ongoing House Session.
"We came here to meet the Speaker to explain the need of ILPS in the State," she added.
