DMCC receives approval for opening five trades

Dhanamanjuri Community College (DMCC) has become the first among the colleges in the entire North East India which received approval for opening five different trades in skill-based higher education sector under University Grant Commission (UGC) scheme.
Speaking to reporters today at his office, Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh, Nodal Officer, DMCC said that the UGC had given its approval for only two trades when the DMCC was established in June 2014.And within a span of one year, the number of trades approved by the UGC stood at five.
The five trades approved by the UGC are Medical Lab Technology (Advanced Diploma), Fruits and Vegetables Technology (Advanced Diploma), TV and Media Production Technology (Advanced Diploma), Digital Multimedia Technology (Degree Course) and Radio Imaging Technology (Degree Course), each with intake capacity of 50 .
He said that second semester for the first two trades�Medical Lab Technology and Fruits and Vegetables Technology which were introduced last year, is completed.
Babina Health Care and Hospitality Pvt Ltd and Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd are the industry partner for the two trades.
Admission in the newly approved trades�TV and Media Production Technology, Digital Multimedia Technology and Radio Imaging Technology, will begin from July 20 and the sessions will start from the first week of August, Raheijuddin said.
Selection of students will be done through entrance tests and
counselling sessions.
The major achievement of DMCC is the approval of the Knowledge Acquisition of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (KAUSHAL) Kendra, which is soon to be established at the college under UGC scheme, he said.
DMCC and NG College are the two colleges among many applications getting approval for the scheme in the interface meeting held on June 24 this year, he said.
In KAUSHAL scheme, there is provision for imparting skill education to youth up to post graduate and research level.
There are also provisions for appointment of professors, associate professors and assistant professors under the scheme, he added.
