Demonstrations programme on use of quality seeds held

Demonstrations on use of quality seeds (rice, blackgram, groundnut, soyabean, etc) under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP ) was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal in collaboration with Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Manipur Pranta at Wainem village, Senapati district.
Speaking at the programme, Dinesh Kulkarni, president, Akhil Bharatia Kisan Morcha urged the farming community to form association and groups and avail maximum benefits of the various schemes introduced by the Central Government.
To avail assistance and facilities, a comprehensive approach by forming farmers' groups/association is needed as the facilities would not come at the doorstep of the farmers, he said.
Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre, Imphal invited all the participants to come to ICAR Manipur Centre for technological backups.
He pointed out distinctly about the importance quality seeds.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, Seed ICAR also urged the farmers for use and production of quality seeds in order to participate in a larger scale which in turn can enhance their income.
Resource persons A Arunkumar Singh, programme co-ordinator, Dr A Suresh Kumar Meitei and S Gunnamani Singh, ICAR �KVK, Imphal West demonstrated the scientific packages of practices of rice, ground nut and blackgram production.
Altogether, 103 participants attended the programme.
