Imphal, August 02 2019:
Demanding that walk-in interviews for recruitment to various vacant posts of National Sports University (NSU) as well as to fill up the posts of the VC, Controller of Examination, Academic Council etc at the earliest, DESAM has cautioned that failure to do so will result in various forms of agitation, including a complete lockdown of the NSU temporary campus established at Khuman Lampak.
Speaking to media persons at their office at Sagolband today, DESAM vice president Nameirakpam Edison said that many individuals from Manipur have been bringing medals and awards in the field of sports and the State has been contributing a lot to the country's performance in international sports events.
DESAM and the people of the State were initially elated on hearing that NSU would be established in the State.
However, various factors like decision to conduct interviews for different posts in other States instead of Manipur (even though NSU is based in Manipur) and establish important courses in the branch offices instead of the headquarters, have made DESAM and the people extremely disappointed.
Edison continued that it is really disheartening to witness that the Central Government does not seem too keen on building the required infrastructure for NSU in Manipur till date.
Even though some courses have begun in NSU Imphal, there is no proper Academic Council, regular VC, Controller of Examinations, Dean etc, Edison pointed out, informing that a memorandum regarding the same had already been submitted to many top officials and Ministers, including the Prime Minister, in the past but to no avail.
If the demands are not met at the earliest, DESAM will lock down the NSU temporary campus inside Khuman Lampak and launch various other agitation as well, he warned.
