Imphal, June 02 2015 :
A vast majority of the voters listed under Moirang Mantak polling station were denied their right to vote in the ADC election held yesterday, according to the Komrem Union Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Komrem Union, Manipur president Lalkhomang Serto said that polling at Moirang Mantak polling station was called off just after 33 votes were cast out of 290 voters listed under the polling station on the excuse that ballot papers had run out.
But after the ballot box was taken to the DC office it was sealed leaving a vast majority of the voters dejected, Lalkhomang said.
At around 2 pm, the Presiding Officer announced that there were no more ballot papers.
This evoked a strong protest from the voters who were standing in queue.
After the voters and the Presiding Officer struck an agreement on holding repoll, the ballot box was taken to the DC office unsealed without any signature of the candidates and the agents.
But on checking at the DC office, the ballot box was found sealed.
On being enquired with the ERO, the aggrieved voters were told that the ballot box was sealed at the instruction of the local MLA, Lalkhomang said while urging for repoll in the particular polling station.
