Refuting the report that the committee setup by the State Government to take stock of the border dispute with Myanmar has aborted its plan to visit Kwatha Khunou due to fear of Myanmar army, the committee's chairman and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam has stated that they would soon submit a report to the Government after making a spot assessment.
He was speaking at a book release cum prize distribution function held today at Ibudhou Nongshaba premises, Karam.
He said that they were planning to visit Kwatha Khunou on June 27 but it as cancelled in the 11th hour as he had to go to Delhi the next day.
The State Cabinet may adopt a resolution and place it before the Central Government only after making a spot assessment of the situation together with officials concerned and experts, he said.
There is no harm when MLAs, political parties and CSOs went to Kwatha Khunou and conducted field assessments of the border row but it is the Government which must protect the State's boundary after assessing the situation, he added.
