Imphal, June 02 2015 :
Highlighting direct involvement of armed militants and their leaders in the ADC election held yesterday which made a mockery of the democratic exercise, many BJP candidates have demanded repoll.
Speaking to media persons at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh today, D Modar, BJP candidate in 1-Khoibu DCC of Chandel ADC said that polling in four polling stations of his DCC was meaningless.
At 1/1 Tolen polling station, KNA and UKLF cadres indulged in large scale proxy voting and the same exercise was replicated by UMLA and KNA cadres at 1/2 Khoibu polling station.
Soon after arrival of MLA D Korungthang at 1/6 Konaitong polling station, Congress workers started proxy voting in bulk.
This enraged political workers of other parties and they poured honey and ink into the ballot boxes in fury.
Beradin Shilshi, BJP candidate in 13-Vomku DCC of Chandel ADC said that about 40/50 women of Lamfao Charu village headed for Anal Khullen in the evening of May 31 to exercise their right to vote the next morning.
As they were preparing to go to sleep at Anal Khullen, NPF workers and NSCN-IM cadres came there and drove away the women saying that they should not come for voting next morning too.
The women returned to Lamfao Charu at around 11 the same night.
"Moreover, NPF workers backed by NSCN-IM cadres barred my agents from entering the polling stations of Phiral Khullen and Larong Khullen, forget about the public", Beradin said.
He also demanded repoll in these polling stations.
Thambal Shilshi, BJP candidate in 10-Aihang DCC said that agents of all candidates except the Congress candidate were barred entry in 10/1 Aihang polling station.
Henry Keishing, BJP candidate in 21-Shingkap DCC of Ukhrul ADC said that NSCN-IM cadres were directly involved in booth capturing in 21/1 Shingkap polling station.
Meanwhile, Paojalet Touthang, BJP candidate in 21-Chingdai Khullen DCC of Sadar Hills ADC has strongly condemned the physical assault on one of his supporters.
BJP supporter Moirangthem Ibohanbi (35) s/o Saratkumar of Samusang was not allowed entry when he went to exercise his adult franchise at Samusang polling station.
Enraged by the selective prohibition, Ibohanbi kicked the door of the polling station in fury.
Demanding apology for his conduct, a group of 10 persons led by one Lenminlun Haokip thrashed Ibohanbi.
They also kicked one pregnant woman who tried to intervene in addition to breaking a licensed single barrel shot gun, Paojalet said.
Meanwhile Independent candidates in 24-Bongbal Khullen DCC Lamjagou Vaiphei and S Ramhaoleng have dismissed the allegation of BJP candidate Thangjamang Kipgen that voting was completed before the polling hours at 24/4 Salam Patong polling station as baseless.
Our Senapati Correspondent reports: Alleging proxy voting and some poll related violence at Makuilongdi polling station, the Makuilongdi Council has submitted a petition to the DC, Senapati demanding conduct of re-poll at the polling station.
