Training prog on climate change begins

Noney, July 24 2022:
A two-day training
programme on climate
change, hill areas development and landslides
management organised by
the Department of Relief &
Disaster Management began
at Makhuam (Marangching)
Part -3, Haolaijang, Noney
district, on Sunday.
The programme was attended by Relief & Disaster
Management documentation cum research officer
AK Ranjit Kumar Singh,
Thoupei Makhuam village
chairman Lankhuilung Kamei and associate pastor
of Makhuam Part-3 Baptist Church Gaishinglung
Gondaimei as the presidium
members.
The training officials
comprising SDRF sub-team
commander O Achouba
Singh, and responders N
Paraneshwori Devi and O
Bedam Chanu imparted
hands-on training on how
to make appropriate decisions during the occurrence
of natural calamities such as landslides, earthquake, wild fire and others.
A demonstration on controlling wild fire, management of landslides, earthquake, first aid and CPR, management of cooking gas leaking and snake bite were also presented by the resource persons.
Speaking to media persons, AK Ranjitkumar informed that the programme was aimed at causing awareness on geo-climatic condition hazards caused by natural calamity such as landslides and others.
He also said that a survey on geo-climatic condition and land management mapping will be conducted very soon by the department concerned in coordination with the locals.
