International Women's Day celebrated in districts

Tamenglong, March 08 2020: As part of the ongoing "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" campaign to uplift, educate and empower women's and girls child of Tamenglong, the District Administration of Tamenglong, ICDS Tamenglong Cell and United Women's Organisations celebrated International Women's Day at Multipurpose Hall, Tamenglong district headquarters, today.

Tamenglong DC, Armstrong Pame who presided the programme also launched Poshan Pakhwada 2020 for the district.

On this occasion, Dr KC Grace Darling, Associate Professor, Hindu University Varanasi and Pranali Khangembam, Dietician, National Health Mission, State Health Society delivered a speech on International women's day and talks on nutrition respectively.

Noney: International Women's Day was also celebrated at Primary Health Centre, Noney Headquarters.

District Administration and ICDS Cell Noney also launched Poshan Pakhwada 2020 for the district.

Noney DC, Hungyo Worshang; ASP Noney, Namsadai Peter and CMO Noney Dr Edwin Gonmei attended the program as presidium members.

Later, talent shows and skits were displayed by some women.

Nutritious organic food item from local products were also displayed at different stalls.

Dr Felix B Kamei, DMO (DNO-DVBDCP) Tamenglong also give a speech on prevention of novel coronavirus or COVID-19.Large numbers of women, civil society, Church leaders, various village authorities/chairmen and youth leaders also attended the programme.

Senapati: An inter-tribe choreography competition was held today at Multi-Purpose Hall, Senapati as part of International Women's Day 2020 cum launching programme of Poshan Pakhwada.

The programme organised by the District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Senapati in collaboration with NYK, Senapati was graced by DC Senapati Somorjit Salam as chief guest; Executive Member ADC, Senapati, A Rang as guest of honour and SP Senapati, Pradip Singh as chief host.

On the occasion, Somorjit Salam stated that giving more freedom to girls child to pursue their dreams can change society for better.

Later, the DC launched a 2-week Poshan Pakhwada that would continue till March 22.14 meritorious girls in the academic field, 4 meritorious girls in sports and 25 women who have only girl child were also felicitated during the observance.

5 tribes under Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) namely Mao Women's Union, Maram Women's Union, Poumai Women's Union, Thangal Women's Union and the Zeliangrong Women's Union took part in the choreography competition.

Poumai Women's Union, Thangal Women's Union and the Maram Women's Union bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

Kangpokpi: Poshan Pakhwada for Kangpokpi district was also launched today on the occasion of International Women's Day-2020.The day was celebrated under the theme, "I am generation equality: Realizing women's rights" while Poshan Pakhwada 2020 was launched under the theme, "Increasing male engagement in Poshan Abhiyan to improve nutrition outcomes".

The celebration of International Women's Day and launching of Poshan Pakhwada was organized at Multipurpose Hall, DC Complex Kangpokpi DHQs by ICDS Kangpokpi.

Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidas, graced the occasion as chief guest while ADC Sadar Hills Vice Chairman Thangjakam Misao and ICDS Joint Director, Bantee Singh Konthoujam attended as guests of honour and KTC Vice Chairman Rev Y Haokip attended as functional president.

Altogether fifteen mothers/women from the district who have an only girl child and two meritorious girl students namely Lamkhohat Kipgen of Jangmol and Hatneilhing Lhouvum of Keithelmanbi and another meritorious girl in sports namely Kimkim Khongsai, d/o Jangkholim Khongsai of Chonjang village who won all District Level Badminton Championship 2019-2020 were felicitated during the function.

On the occasion, Lalithambigai Kalidas said that people should not be panic by the outbreak of coronavirus rather they must follow the preventive measures issued by the Health authority accordingly.

In case of suspicion anyone can approach the District Administration, she added.

ADC Sadar Hills Vice Chairman Thangjakam Misao, Joint Director, ICDS, Bantee Singh Konthoujam, CDPO Kangpokpi Ch Budhachandra Singh and KWU secretary Marina Doungel also spoke on the occasion.

Addl SP Kangpokpi Lalminlen Misao; DSWO Kangpokpi, N Usharani Devi, Saikul CDPO Roseline Doungel; Saitu CDPO L Samola Devi and all supervisors of ICDS Cell Kangpokpi also attended the function apart from other officials and staffs of ICDS Cell Kangpokpi, CSOs leaders including KSO Sadar Hills, parents and guardians, etc.

Various cultural dance and shorts skits on International Women's Day and Poshan Pakhwada from school students and community adolescence marked the occasion.

Meanwhile, Inwoda Lamthenkim, a baby girl born on this day last year at Kangpokpi DHQs celebrated her first birthday today on the occasion of International Women's Day celebration at Multipurpose Hall, DC complex organised by ICDS Cell, Kangpokpi.

The baby parents Lalboi Dimngel and Vahneo Dimngel lived in Vengthah Ward no 3 Kangpokpi DHQs.

All dignitaries of the occasion including DC Kangpokpi, ADC Sadar Hills Vice Chairman, Joint Director ICDS, KTC Vice Chairman, Addl SP Kangpokpi, CDPOs ICDS Cell Kangpokpi, Supervisors and the celebration goers wished the one-year-old baby.

BISHNUPUR: The District Administration, Bishnupur observed International Women's Day 2020 at Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini-Secretariat campus today.

The function was attended by DLOs, students, ANMs, ASHA and Anganwadi workers.

Various cultural items, dance, skit play and various entertainment items were presented as part of the observance.

The event was organized by ICDS Cell, Bishnupur in collaboration with the District Administration under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.

Gracing the function as the chief guest, Neeta Arambam, Deputy Commissioner of the district administered Poshan Pakhwada pledge.

She highlighted the importance of women in all walks of life and urged the participants to continue elevating the status of women in society.

Priyadarshini Laishram, Superintendent of Police and Th Shantibala Devi, District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Bishnupur also attended the function as functional president and guest of honour respectively.

The District Administration honoured top-performing ANMs, ASHA and Anganwadi workers on this auspicious day.

Kakching: For Kakching, the observance was held at Kakching Bazar, Umathel Makha Leikai Community Hall, Kakching Leingang and Kakching Khuman, Kakching district.

The programme held at Umathel was jointly organised by District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal, Childline Thoubal, Women in Governance (WING) Thoubal and Integrated Rural Development Service Organisation (IRDSO), Wangjing while the functions at Kakching Bazar, Kakching Leingang and Kakching Khuman were organised by Kakching District Mahila Congress Committee, Tayama Charitable Trust (TCT), Kakching and All Manipur Nupi Marup, Kakching, respectively.

Thoubal: International Women's Day 2020 was also observed today at different parts of Thoubal district.

The observance conducted at the counting hall of Thoubal DC office was organised by District Administration Thoubal.

During the programme, "Poshan Pakhwada" for the district was also launched.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal N Bandana Devi; Thoubal Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, Hasina Begum; Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, Dr S Ibomcha Singh and Addl Deputy Commissioner Thoubal L, Radhakanta attended the function as dignitaries.

Dr Th Arunkumar Former Chairman State Appropriate Authority (PC & PNDT); Dr Meena Seram, State Nodal Officer Maternal Health, National Health Mission and Dr Slyvia Ayam, State Nodal Officer, Child Health, National Health Mission were the resource persons of the function.

The day was also observed at the conference hall of KVK ThoubaI, temporary office of Ningol Club Heirok at Heirok Part- IIl Champrathong Maning and Khongjom Bazar Community Hall.

Meanwhile, members of Lions Club of Thoubal Greater Centurion distributed sanitary pads to many women at Thoubal Bazar to mark the occasion.
