Many continue to condemn death of minor girl

Following the death of the minor girl at RIMS on September 3, many continued to condemn the heinous crime against the 14-year-old and demanded stringent and exemplary punishment to all the culprits involved.
The Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) strongly condemned the alleged brutal gang rape and assault of the minor girl who later passed away owing to the severe nature of her injuries.
Demanding the highest degree of punishment against all those involved in the incident, UAL in a press release stated that the people committing such horrific crime have no place in human society.
UAL further stated that although there are several Acts and laws to protect women, the number of crime against women continue to rise.
One way to deter such crimes is to speed-up investigation and arrest the criminals at the earliest and award stringent and befitting punishment, the lup added.
UAL urged everyone, specially parents, to educate and teach male youngsters and children to uphold and respect women and treat them as they would their own mothers and sisters and also urged everyone to join.
The lup also called upon CSOs, associations and other bodies to join in the cause.
The Delhi Association of Manipur Muslim Students (DAMMS), New Delhi has vehemently condemned the death of a minor muslim girl on September 3 due to suspected sexual assault.
Expressing concern of such heinous crime against women in the State, DAMMS stated the need to dig deep down to its root cause and eradicate the menaces the women of the present society are going through.
The evil effects of patriarchal society should be everyone's concern and women should be encouraged in education and every other field to ensure a level equal to that of the men, DAAMS said.
Seeking befitting punishment to those who have committed such atrocious crime, DAMMS also expressed that no body or organisation or any JAC should compromise the issue for the sake of compensation.
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) also condemned the incident in the strongest term and appealed to the Government to ensure speedy trial at the Fast Track Court and early justice for the victim.
Extending its support, UCM expressed condolence to the bereaved family members.
The Lilong Bazar Development Committee (LBDC), Women in Governance, Manipur, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Democratic Women Association, Ningol Club, All India Students Federation, Manipur State Council and many others too condemned the incident and demanded stringent punishment to the culprits.
Members and volunteers of MSDO Sangaiyumpham staged a sit in protest at Sangaiyumphal Nungphou bazar.
Members of DDAM also took out a protest rally.
Locals of Heibong Makhong Thoibikhong also staged a sit-in protest.
Youths of Yairipok extended monetary assistance to the victim's family.
It may be noted that the minor girl went missing after she was reportedly called out of her house on September 1 by her alleged boyfriend, Md Arish.
She was found the next day unconscious at a place at Mayang Imphal and was rushed to RIMS hospital where she died the next day.
Police have arrested several suspects including the alleged boyfriend.
