One day awareness programme on COVID-19 held

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) in collaboration with Social Welfare Club, Laphupat Tera Mayai Leikai and Laphupat Tera Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi organised an awareness programme on COVID-19 at Laphupat Tera Mayai Leikai, today.
The programme was conducted to educate the public about the negative effect of ignoring COVID guidelines advised by the Government and experts, discriminating health care professionals and barricading entry to localities in the society at large.
Ningthoujam (o) Jiteshwori Devi - member, Ward No 6, Laphupat Komlakhong Gram Panchayat; Hijam Priyokumar - president, CADA; Ningthoujam (o) Pishak Devi - senior Meira Paibi member and Sorokhaibam Nena - president, CADA Kakching District Committee attended the programme.
At the function, Dipanjit Ningthoujam - vice-president, CADA as a resource person of the programme said that following the COVID-19 safety guidelines such as wearing face mask, maintaining physical distance, washing hands regularly etc, are the online options available for now to stay away from the novel virus.
Meanwhile, Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA opined that consumption of tobacco products, social gatherings involving alcohol consumption might have also contributed in the spike of COVID cases seen in the State.
