College final year exams from September 18

A high level meeting held yesterday to review several measures being implemented in the State to check the spread of COVID-19 agreed to hold final year examination of colleges from September 18 .
As agreed at the meeting which was chaired by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioners would take up necessary action to vacate colleges which are being used as quarantine centres by September 8 .
Higher & Technical Education would prepare a detailed SOP to be followed at the examination centres which would be sanitised by Higher Education Department and colleges.
The meeting which was participated by administrative secretaries, police representatives and Deputy Commissioners decided that any student in a containment zone would not be allowed to go to examination centres irrespective of whether the student is infected or not.
Nonetheless, Higher Education Department would have to make separate arrangements for such cases.
Normal hospital services should be monitored by the DCs and they should ensure that casualty/emergency unit/block is functional at all times, according to another decision adopted at the meeting.
On reopening of Khwairamband Ima Keithels, the MAHUD Director and the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) would hold a preliminary discussion with representatives of women vendors.
Thereafter modalities of reopening should be worked out by a group of officers including police and headed by the Imphal West DC.
Another resolution says that hotels, restaurants and eating joints may be allowed to open subject to compliance with Ministry of Tourism SOP.
