Imphal, September 06 2020:
Construction of Kasom Khullen Lamkhai to Tengnoupal road which constitutes the third portion of NH 102-A began yesterday.
Speaking at an event held yesterday at Khoripok (Lungtoram) village which marked the beginning of the road construction work, Phungyar AC MLA K Leishiyo said that the 202 Kms long NH 102-A would eventually turn out to be an important link for all the communities of Manipur.
Notably, construction of NH 102-A has already begun in two portions covering from Shangshak to Tengnoupal.
One end of NH 102-A would be connected to Imphal-Moreh highway at Tengnoupal while the other end would join the Imphal-Ukhrul highway at Finch Corner before extending towards Jessami road.
Leishiyo said that Chandel district and Kamjong district are located next to each other, and people of Chandel and Kamjong used to fish together at Taretlok.
However, there is no road which connects Chandel to Kamjong and vice versa.
If one should travel to Kamjong from Chandel, he/she must travel through Imphal, Leishiyo said.
