State HC inaugurated formally

Chief Justice of India Justice Altamas Kabir and Union Law minister Ashwani Kumar today formally inaugurated the new High Court of Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Law minister Ashwani said, "No amount of security forces can make the citizens secure if the citizens do not feel secure." Saying that he fully understands about the way Chief Minister of Manipur O Ibobi has approached him for more Judges for the Manipur High Court, he assured that possible efforts will be made on behalf of the Government of India to augment both physical and human resources in order make the new High Court of the state functional as per sentinel of law.
Pledging that he will ensure satisfaction of the Chief Minister and Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, Ashwani said he expects justice will be rendered, vindicate and validate to the people of Manipur under their dynamic leadership.
He said, "You need to pay the bill of justice to every person of Manipur." CJI Altamas also spoke at the occasion.
He stressed that the Government cannot alone make the people aware of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity because the judiciary needs to do it.
Maintaining that there will be certain positive impact in building the nation by intermingling and interacting between mainland India and North East, he said the Supreme Court has a Judge from this region so far.

Stating that according to Article 171-A of Indian Constitution laws should not infringe upon the local laws, traditions and customs of a region, Justice Altamas said the Chief Justice of this High Court will follow this Article as he is very sensitive about the local problems, expressing confidence that the High Court will become a full representative of the entire country one day.
Chief Minister Ibobi while addressing the function said the long cherished dream of the Manipur Government and legal fraternity has come true as a separate High Court for the state has been formally inaugurated today.
He assured that the vacant posts of two Judges for the new High Court of Manipur will be filled up at the earliest.
He said the state Government will lend all possible supports by providing requisite facilities to the High Court for ensuring its effective functioning to make it one of the best High Courts of the country.
The Chief Minister appealed to the Chief Justice and Judges of the court to ensure justice to the people by using the information and communication tools.
Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, the new Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court among others also attended the function.
