Imphal, July 08 2015 :
The Supreme Court of India has issued notice to MLA Mairembam Prithviraj for allegedly submitting fake educational certificate in election affidavits.
This was stated by Thounaojam Chaoba, president of BJP Manipur State unit during a press meet held at the party office located at Nityapat Chuthek today.
He said the SC had issued notice to M Prithviraj, Parliamentary Secretary (YAS), who represented Moirang AC in the State Assembly, returnable within four weeks.
The notice is served following a Special Leave Petition filed by one P Saratchandra, a retired IAS officer to the apex Court.
Before this, Saratchandra had filed an Election Petition in this regard to the High Court of Manipur in 2012.He filed the SLP at the Supreme Court after the case was adjourned 38 times at HCM during the last three years, Chaoba mentioned.
Chaoba said that in the 2009 by-election and 2012 Assembly election, M Prithviraj filed false affidavits claiming that he got MBA degree from Mysore University in 2004.He even put his qualification as MBA (Human Resource) even on the Manipur Assembly website.
However, the Registrar of Mysore University confirmed that Prithviraj neither studied MBA nor got MBA degree from Mysore University.
According to the Representation of People's Act, 1951, election trial should be completed in six months, the BJP president said.
A Criminal (Complaint) case was also filed in CJM Court, Bishnupur in 2014, Chaoba said.
