Imphal, April 25:
In connection with its 11th foundation day today, the Central Committee of the KYKL has decided to take up a new tax policy for a year till April 25 next year.
In a statement, the outfit explained that under the new tax policy, KYKL will stop serving donation letters for huge amount and in its place tax will be extensively collected from the people.
However money in bulk will continue to be collected from the corrupt officials, from outsiders and from those who earn their money through dubious means.
Money will be collected from those on whom donation letters were earlier served, said KYKL and asked them to clear up their tax by May 10.Without beating around the bush, KYKL said that money is needed to sustain the armed movements and added that the source of revenue is the people.
There is no other way at present.
The outfit also admitted that the people are pushed to the walls to meet the monetary demands of the militant groups.
The demands imposed on the people have naturally discouraged them from taking up economic activities, said the outfit and added that 90 percent of the inconveniences faced by the people are due to the demands of the KYKL.
This is what worries and troubles the KYKL the most, said the statement.
However this is not out of pre-planned motive or an intentional move, but is dictated by the circumstances in which the KYKL was formed, explained the statement and added that in the race to keep up with others, the people had to take the suffering.
The outfit has been working on a plan for the last two years to ease the sufferings of the people due to the demand for bulk sum from the people, said the outfit and added that in view of this the new tax policy was formulated.
Instead of serving donation letters on some people, KYKL will impose tax on a large scale and urged all not to oppose the tax imposed by the outfit.
The new policy is a trial and if successful KYKL will stop demanding money in bulk from some people.
