Meetei Eyek Erol Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has decided to intensify the ongoing agitation for implementation of Meetei Mayek in all the educational institutions of the State in the hill districts as well.
A decision to this effect was arrived at during a joint meeting of various representatives of Hill people today, according to a statement issued by the publicity secretary of MEELAL S Jugeswor Meetei.
He informed that Meetei Mayek activists of the Hill districts like Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Chandel, Churachandpur and Sadar Hills took part in the meeting and resolved to step up the ongoing agitation for implementation of indigenous script in all the hill districts as well.
To make the movement more effective, the meeting resolved to seek the co-operation and support of all the people, he said.
The meeting took serious note of the preparation being made by the Mayek activists who are languishing in the jail to launch fast unto death agitation.
However, it decided to prevail upon Akaba to postpone his proposed fast unto agitation from May 1 for some days, Jugeswor disclosed.
