Assam Rifles arrest UGs, drug peddlers

Imphal, December 20 2014 :
During a joint operation at Kongba in Imphal east district, troops of the 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Imphal East Police Commandos apprehended an active cadre of PULF on December 19, claimed a statement of PRO, IGAR (South) .
The apprehendee was identified as No 2245, 2nd Lieutenant, Md Juma Khan alias Tiger, aged 24 yrs, S/o Md Mufijuddin, resident of Keirao Mangmakha Leikai.
One 7.65mm Automatic Pistol (made in U.S.A) alongwith magazine, five live rounds of 7.65mm and a mobile phone with two SIM cards were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items has been handed over to the Porompat Police Station, added the statement.
In another operation, troops of the 12 BIHAR of 9 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) along with Bishenpur Police Commandos launched joint operation at Laimapokpam, Takhel Makha Laikai & Langpok and apprehended three PREPAK cadres on the same day.
The apprehendees were identified as Oinam Sagar Singh alias Inausha, aged 23 yrs, S/o Oinam Mejor Singh, resident of Laimapokpam Makha Leikai, Chingakham Naoba Singh, aged 19 yrs, S/o Chandra Singh, resident of Takhel Makha Laikai and Leihaorungbam Sital Meitei alias Punshiba alias Thoi Thoiba, aged 22 yrs, S/o L Shantamani Meitei, resident of Takhel Makha Laikai.
One 9mm pistol along with magazine, four live rounds of 9mm, one 7.65mm pistol along with magazine and three live rounds were recovered from their possession.
The apprehendees alongwith the recovered items have been handed over to the Nambol Police Station.
24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), during frisking of vehicles at at Sita road junction, apprehended one drug peddler along with contraband drugs on December 19 while he was travelling in a Maruti Suzuki Car bearing Registration Number UP-65Q-4390 towards Moreh.
The apprehendee was identified as Mr Ningthoujam Arun Meetei, aged 28 yrs, S/o Mr N Yaiskul Meetei, resident of Moreh Ward No 6 in Chandel.
364 bottles (each 100ml) of Phensedyl Cough Linctus worth Rs 34,944/- and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Tengnoupal Police Station.
