Book on sericulture released

A book titled 'Illustrated Working Technology of Bivoltine Silk Worm Rearing' which is based on sericulture and translated into Thadou-Kuki-Paite dialect has been released today by Sericulture Minister Y Erabot.
The book release function held at Sangaipat conference hall of Project Management Complex, Directorate of Sericulture was also attended by Commissioner (Sericulture) Vivek Kumar Dewangan as functional president along with Director (Technical), Central Textile board, Ministry of Textiles Dr B Saratchandra and Scientist (retd), Central Silk Board S Amarnath as the guests of honour.
Presenting the key note address, Deputy director of Directorate of Sericulture H Ginjamang Simte informed that phase of the ongoing Sericulture Project has covered 4000 beneficiaries and till date 15 technical service centres have been established.
Further conveying that Rs 1.61 crores have been earmarked for purchase of equipment and another sum of Rs 49 lakhs for purchase of furniture, he also stated that over 9 lakh saplings have been distributed to sericulture farm sites in all the nine districts.
In his address, Minister Erabot exhorted those involved in the Sericulture project to work with commitment in order to contribute to the economy of the State.
Assuring his personal endeavour for development of sericulture in the State, the Minister expressed that there should be sufficient budgetary allocation in order to expedite development of the sector.
Erabot also exuded confidence that with the publication of the book in the tribal dialect promotion of sericulture activities could be accelerated as hilly terrain is considered highly suitable for sericulture projects.
