Vendors warn of stir

Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup has demanded the State Government to come up with a concrete plan for relocation of quake affected women vendors before February 15.The lup has also warned of launching intense agitation in case the State Govt fails to act on their demand.
Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup president L Memma in a press meet held at Khwairamband Keithel Purana Market today said the State Government has gone silent on the issue of rehabilitation of quake affected vendors.
The lup is set to launch intense agitation if the State Government does not come up with a fair plan to rehabilitate the affected vendors before February 15 .
On January 29, 120 women vendors left for New Delhi.
On February 6, the same team staged sit-in-protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi from 12 noon to 4.30 pm.
The team were ushered into the Prime Minister's office the same day where they submitted a memorandum stating the grievances of the women vendors, the lup president stated.
Chief Secretary O Nabakishore had said that the a sum of Rs 3 crore had been sanctioned to the Department of Mahud for the construction the two market buildings.
The State Government must commence building the markets soon as promised, she stated.
