People of the State will see a sea change in power condition of the State before March 2016, Chief Minister O Ibobi, who is also in-charge of Power Dept told the House today.
Taking part in a discussion for passing six demands in the Assembly today, O Ibobi said all power consumers of the State will gradually have the habit of paying power tax on their own.
Responding to the policy cuts raised by Opposition members - Dr I Ibohalbi, L Ibomcha, K Shyam and Th Shyamkumar, O Ibobi said that introduction of prepaid power meter has not only helped consumers to use power judiciously, it will also pay dividends in collecting power revenues.
The Govt is planning to install around 1.50 lakh prepaid power meters in the valley districts during the current fiscal year.
There is also plan to install prepaid power meters at all district headquarters and subdivisional headquarters.
The present estimated power requirement of the State is also likely to dip when prepaid meters are installed all over the State, he said.
On the disputed Dzuko valley, O Ibobi said the State has the right to protect its boundary and the neighbouring State should not encroach the boundary.
Likewise, Manipur would not disturb the boundary of other States.
Saying that there is plan to inaugurate projects undertaken in Senapati district, O Ibobi said he would make sure that he visits Dzuko valley whenever he goes to Senapati district to inaugurate the projects.
