CAU Imphal participates in international conference on Sujalam

A team of 20 Scientists/Faculties from Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal participated in the international conference of "Sujalam, a dialogue on India's Indigenous traditions and techniques on water conservation under the broader Indian Narrative on Environmental Conservation" held at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh from December 27-29, 2022 under the leadership of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU Imphal.
The VC was the working president of the mega event that was organised by the Ministry of Jalshakti, Government of India with Deen Dayal Research Institute (DRI), New Delhi and Central Agricultural University as one of the co-sponsors.
The State Government of Madhya Pradesh co-hosted the event, said a press note by the Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal.
The conference saw a successful conglomeration of more than 5000 participants as delegates.

The event was inaugurated by Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on December 27 in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat; Swami Kadsidheshwar Maharaj, Mathadhipati Kaneri Math (Kolhapur); Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Sar Karyakarta Suresh Bhaiya Joshi; Atul Jain, DRI, New Delhi and Dr Anupam Mishra, VC, CAU Imphal.
Dr Anupam Mishra while speaking at the event stressed on the need for water conservation in all ways.
He remarked that the traditional Indian values of conserving water at micro and macro level needs to be adopted again for the benefit of mankind.
The conference is part of a series of events titled "Sumangalam", which are aimed at presenting the unique Indian concept of securing the purity of the five basic elements of nature or "Panchamahabhuta" -- earth, water, fire, air and space and attaining a balance between these for the survival and sustainability of life on Earth.
The conference was attended by religious leaders, scientists, thinkers, social activists from different parts of the world and those engaged in seeking solutions based on indigenous thinking.
Dean College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal, Professor Indira Sarangthem; Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma also attended the conference as special invitees.
CAU, Imphal collaborated with Manipur University of Culture, Imphal and Vice Chancellor Dr P Gunindro and Registrar (i/c) Dr L Surjit Singh participated in the conference as guest speakers.
