State logs 348 new cases, 9 deaths

Imphal, September 18 2021:
The State reported nine Covid related deaths and 348 new COVID-19 cases in the last 48 hours, bringing the cumulative tally to 1,830 deaths and 1,18,262 positive cases.
During the last 24 hours 2,425 samples were tested out of which 140 samples had returned positive for COVID-19, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar.
The positivity rate of the State now stands at 5.8 per cent, the lowest in September while the recovery rate has shown a tad improvement to 96.61 per cent.
The 348 positive cases detected in the last 48 hours, including 28 CAPF personnel and 320 civilians, were confirmed at RIMS (7), JNIMS (58) and other testing centres (283) .
The civilians who were tested positive are residents of Imphal East (59), Imphal West (153), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (18), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (20), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (11), Senapati (8), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (12), Teng-noupal (3) and Pherzawl (3) .
With 8 samples returning positive for COVID-19 out of 85, Chandel had the highest positivity rate in the last 24 hours with 9.4 per cent followed by Imphal West with 8.4 per cent and Bishnupur with 7.5 per cent while two districts, Tameng-long and Tengnoupal, had zero positivity rate.
The nine Covid fatalities were reported from Imphal West (1), Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (1), Ukhrul (2), Thoubal (1) and Churachandpur (2) .
One of the 9 victims had already taken the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
469 individuals were discharged during the last 48 hours from home isolation (151), RIMS (21), JNIMS (24), CCCs (216) and CHICs (57).With these discharges, the number of active cases in the State is 2,180 including 59 CAPF personnel.
7,406 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were also administered on September 16 and 17 taking the total doses administered so far to 16,20,774 (12,13,267 first doses and 4,07,507 second doses) .
As per the press release from Common Control Room, 565 beds are available for COVID-19 patients at different health care facilities including 215 at RIMS (193 general beds and 22 ICU/HDU); 60 at JNIMS (54 general beds and 6 ICU/HDU); 30 at Medecins Sans Frontieres in Little Flower School which is free of cost (23 general beds and 7 ICU/HDU); 35 at CMC Koirengei (29 general beds and 6 ICU/HDU); 30 at Iboyaima Hospital (27 general beds and 3 ICU/HDU); 25 at Jivan Hospital, Kakching (20 general beds and 5 ICU/HDU); 72 at Shija Hospital (34 general beds and 38 ICU/HDU) and 98 at Raj Medicity (76 general beds and 22 ICU/HDU) .
