Imphal, April 08 2019:
The BJP published its election manifesto today and shocked the entire State by promising to bring back Citizenship Amendment Bill if it comes to power.
However, allaying the fear of the people, the BJP also claimed that the CAB will not affect Manipur as well as the North East States in any way.
The party also assured to eradicate the apprehension of the people regarding any adverse impact of the CAB in the NE region and to strive for development and preservation of the traditions, cultures and social identities of the indigenous people.

Speaking to media persons at BJP Manipur State unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, the party's vice-president Jotin Waikhom clarified about the allegations made by the Congress party regarding lack of any infrastructure in connection with the National Sports University.
He claimed that infrastructure works have been initiated and explained that the report that the NSU is run by a society is a thing of the past as the society has already been dissolved and the NSU is now run by the Government.
On the other hand, firing back at the Congress allegation that the BJP carried out a night raid inside Manipur University campus, Jotin Waikhom claimed that the raid was carried out based on intelligence inputs and it was done during the night because there was time constraint.
He then conveyed that it is extremely disappointing to see political parties attempting to politicise any issue raised by the student organisations and that it is disheartening to witness political parties organising political meetings inside the university campus.
Speaking about the arrest of Kishorechandra Wang-khem under NSA, Jotin said that the National Security Advisory Board had deemed it appropriate to detain Kishorechandra under NSA and this is practically a non issue, as the Congress party had even murdered democracy for a short while by imposing emergency in the country in the past.
Jotin then clarified that by assuring to provide employment to the people, BJP meant generating employment opportunities and platforms for unemployed and private sectors through start up programme.

Clarifying about the drug case involving the Chairman of Chandel ADC, he claimed that it was the BJP which took up necessary legal actions and added that the Government cannot meddle in the affairs of the Court.
Speaking about the National Highway Protection Force, Jotin Waikhom said that as soon as the recruitment process for 10th and 11th IRB is completed, necessary steps will be taken up for establishing the National Highway Protection Force.
He also claimed that BJP is also working for presidential assent to the Manipur People Bill 2018.On the other hand, the BJP vice president alleged that it was the Congress which brought AFSPA from the hills to the valley and added that it is heartening to see that Congress has changed their position and promised to repeal the Act.
Jotin said that AFSPA was removed from 7 Assembly segments due to the collective voice of the people and added that numerous cases of extrajudicial killings are pending in front of Court till date.
During the two years rule of the BJP State Government, there were no cases of such deaths or killings.
The people have begun experiencing peace and tranquillity after a long time, he added.
On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy has expressed gratitude to the people who came out to participate in the event which was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hapta Kangjeibung yesterday, despite the total shutdown.
He then apologised to the people for the inconveniences resulting from improper seating arrangements during the event and claimed that despite the Prime Minister's late arrival, the event was a grand success.
He mentioned that BJP believes in bringing all round development and positive changes in every nook and corner of the country.
If proper income and employment generation initiatives are taken up, all the issues plaguing Manipur will be gone, he added.
On the other hand, reacting to the claim by ex-CM Okram Ibobi that the Congress party is a trustworthy and reliable political party, Bijoy said that an agreement was signed between the Congress and UNIC in 1972.Alleging that in the said agreement, the Congress had agreed to giving all Naga inhabited areas of Manipur to Nagaland, Bijoy said that if the Congress vows to take action on its promises, then it will lead to Manipur's ruin.
On the other hand, he said that in the past BJP National president Amit Shah had announced that if the CAB did not get consensus, then it would not be produced in the Rajya Sabha and accused the Congress party of needlessly dragging the issue further.
Speaking about AFSPA, Bijoy said that the said Act should be removed only when there is true peace in the State and the State and Central Governments are working tirelessly to make peace a reality in Manipur.
He also expressed that it is questionable whether some of the parties in the BJP-led coalition Government are indeed in the coalition or not.
