Projects underway to make Moirang one of the best tourist destinations: CM

Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi on Sunday stated that developmental projects are underway in Moirang so that it can become one of the best tourist destinations in the country.
He made the statement during the inaugural function of newly constructed Khoyol Keithel at Moirang Lamkhai, Loktak Modern Fish Market at Moirang Patlou.
Attending the function as Chief Guest, O Ibobi stated that the State Government is mulling to expand the road from Moirang Lamkhai to the bridge located near Moirang old market.
He said that in an effort to make Moirang the favourite tourist destination, the government would be embarking on many plans.
"50 feet each will be expanded on both sides of the road from the middle point and if any patta land comes under the road expansion plan, compensations will be given to the land owners", added O Ibobi.

The Chief Minister also assured providing 24-hour power in Moirang along with regular water supply.
Pointing out that most international tourists want to visit islets over the Loktak Lake, the Chief Minister also expressed his desire to set up Karang Island as a model village.
"Plan is also underway to made the Moirang treasury office functional and develop the Community Health Centre including the operation theatre to provide 24x7 service to the public", said O Ibobi.
He said the two markets being built after a cabinet decision will serve as the business hub for Moirang and its surrounding villages.
Ibobi appealed the people to support the Government in its developmental projects.
Attending the function, Commerce and Industries, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas Konthoujam stated that the newly constructed markets will help in improving the economic conditions of the local people.
Appealing all sections of people not to impede any developmental projects of the Government, Govindas Konthoujam also requested all to keep the markets neat and clean.
Fisheries Minister Md Abdul Nasir who attended the function as Guest of Honour said that the newly inaugurated Loktak Modern Fish Market was opened in the State for the first time under National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.
Government will try to open such markets in all districts of Manipur, the minister assured.
The inaugural function organised by Moirang Municipal Council was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj, PDA Chairman T Mangibabu, Moirang Municipal Council Chairperson Ph Rajen, Commissioner of Fisheries Nobert Disinang, NFDB Regional Centre Guwahati Officer-in-Charge Dr RC Barman, DC Bishnupur and Director Fisheries among others.
