Khumbong Indane Gramin Vitrak Refills held up for 110 consumers

No more LPG refills would be issued to 110 consumers of Khumbong Indane Grameen Vitrak who have been already issued seven to nine refills each until other consumers of the distributor have been issued six or seven subsidised LPG refills.
After the irregularities committed by the distributor was exposed by The Sangai Express, Imphal West Students' Club (IWSC), Khumbong convened a joint meeting with the proprietor and management staff of Khumbong Indane Grameen Vitrak this morning.
IWSC general secretary A Samarendra told The Sangai Express that representatives of the club, proprietor and management staff of the distributor held a meeting today.
The meeting agreed to allow consumers book for refills on the next the day of receiving refills.
The meeting deliberated on issuance of seven to nine refills each to some consumers.
In the course of deliberating the matter, the proprietor and the management staff admitted that they committed many irregularities.
The meeting agreed that those consumers who have already been issued seven to nine refills each would not be issued any more refill until all the consumers of the distributor have been issued six or seven refills.
The meeting further discussed about charging Rs 2400 and Rs 1250 just for registration of new connections on the false claim of issuing two cylinder and one cylinder respectively.
However, the matter could not be resolved as the proprietor's response was not satisfactory, Samarendra said.
He maintained that the matter may be taken up with the IOC's State Level Coordinator, if necessary.
Another agenda of the meeting was online registration of new connections but again, the matter could not be resolved as the club representatives found the replies given by the proprietor and the management not convincing enough.
Online registration of new LPG connections has already been introduced in other States of India under the Pan India scheme.
The actual amount needed for registration of a new LPG connection is Rs 1600.Refill product prize and stamp duty charges should be added to this amount.
The amount of Rs 1600 taken at the time of registering a new connection is inclusive of Rs 1150 for a cylinder of 14.2 Kg capacity, Rs 100 for pressure regulator, Rs 50 for DGCC book, installation and demonstration charge of Rs 50 and hotplate inspection charge of Rs 250 .
