Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum has made a fervent appeal to the people particularly the mothers to carry out routine immunization of their children so that the National goal of immunization is achieved.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a one-day publicity campaign organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Chandel and Senapati units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Govt of India under the theme 'Mission Indradhanush and Mother and Child Health' at Indoor Stadium, Chandel bazar today.
The DC further said that the 2020 National goal for complete immunization in the country could be achieved if all the stakeholders make a combined effort and urged public leaders and village chiefs to promote and monitor immunization in their respective localities.
Ws Kanral, president, Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) maintained that awareness is the key to the success of the programme.
He appealed the gathering to further propagate the message of regular and compulsory immunization in their villages.
Dr Engam Pame, Director DFP, Nagaland and Manipur Region said that diseases have a cascading effect on the society and the overall health of the people contributes to the growth of that society.
He also outlined the role of the Directorate of Field Publicity in bringing awareness to the people at the grass-root level.
KL Rungkham, chairman Maha Area Chiefs Association was the guest of honour of the function while Dr Ksh Umananda, MD (AYUSH) was the resource person.
The other highlights of the programme were healthy baby show, rally, quiz competition and song performance by the members of the All Chandel Artistes Association.
