ASUK imposes total shutdown on Jan 26

Imphal, January 23 2023: The proscribed Alliance for Socialist Unity, Kangleipak (ASUK) has imposed a total shutdown on January 26 to mark boycott of India's Republic Day celebration in Manipur.

The total shutdown to be effective from 6am to 6pm of January 26 throughout Manipur, will be relaxed for religious ceremonies, medical, media and emergency services, ASUK said in a statement and appealed to people to support the shutdown.

According to an ASUK statement, India is celebrating the 74th Republic Day on January 26 to commemorate enforcement of its own Constitution on January 26,1950.Apart from the main celebration in New Delhi, the Republic Day will be celebrated throughout country including in Kangleipak/Manipur and WESEA region.
