Patsoi people elected wrong representative: CM Biren
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, November 14 2021: While asserting that politics cannot be carried forward through lecture alone, chief minister N Biren has said that Patsoi assembly constituency could have been developed long time back but remained backward due to wrong selection of representative by people of the constituency.

Addressing a gathering in a one-day political conference cum launch of Lotus campaign in Patsoi AC organised by BJP Patsoi Mandal at Tera bazar on Sunday, CM Biren said that the huge gathering gives him high hope of Patsoi electorates electing BJP candidate in the upcoming polls and people of the constituency could join the change being brought in the state and country by electing BJP candidate.

Development in an assembly constituency is inevitable if people of the constituency deeply study what the candidates had done in the past, what they are doing and plan to do in future and give votes with this vision, Biren said.

According to the CM, 80 percent of the politicians do not know condition of Manipur and this is one main reason for Manipuri society to remain undeveloped for a long time.

The party which ruled the state for a long time did not construct any significant bridge but three key bridges along Imphal-Jiri Road have been built ever since the coming of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government, he said, adding that Barak bridge is about to be inaugurated after Makru bridge and construction of Irang bridge is going on at fast pace.

The chief minister also said that target was set for bringing rail line till Tupul before the upcoming state assembly election but this won't be possible as COVID-19 pandemic badly affected the construction works.

Nevertheless, attempt is being made to bring rail line till Khongshang before the upcoming election, he said, adding that both the state and Central governments have been taking up welfare schemes for the people.

Apart from this, Central government has been giving keen attention to the state and the main objective of the government is to protect lives of the people and keep them happy all the time.

Patsoi AC is facing problem of drinking water but this problem could have been prevented had people of the constituency elected representative who could provide drinking water, Biren said, adding that the present government has constructed many water supply schemes and people of the state would no longer face drinking water problem in near future.

He also reminded the gathering that coverage of drinking water facility in the state was only five percent of the total households until recent past but the present government has increased the coverage to 54 percent within the short time of four and half years.

He also claimed improving relation between people of hills and valley people during the short tenure and increasing number of entrepreneurs.

While asserting that bringing development in Patsoi AC is not a difficult task, Biren urged the gathering to pinpoint area where local people want to bring improvement.

He also assured of taking up positive action in consultation with officials concerned.

He then urged intending candidates of BJP to compete in rendering selfless service to the people as the party will allot ticket to the best performer.

The political conference was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, Imphal West District president Ph Phoni Meitei, Patsoi Mandal president Kunjamani Yumnam, and intending candidates Sapam Kunjakeshwor and W Dineshchandra.
