M Indubala, fellow Indian judo team members to leave for Asian Games today; coach Oinam Raseshwari to lead team

Maibam Indubala Devi from Manipur will be part of the four-member Indian judo team who will leave India for the Hangzhou Asian Games on Thursday (September 21, 2023) .
The Indian judo team will be led by coach Oinam Raseshwari Chanu, also a state native, who is the first-ever woman coach of the national squad.
Indubala will compete in the women's 78kg category in the Asian Games.
Avtar Singh (men's 100kg), Garima Choudhary (women's 70kg) and Tulika Maan (women's 70kg) are other members of the national team.
Coach Raseshwari Chanu, 35, daughter of O Irabot Meitei, hails from Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai.
Raseshwari, who completed a diploma in sports coaching from.
National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, is currently working as a coach at Inspire Institute of Sports, Bellary, Karnataka.
A judo player par excellence, Chanu had led the Indian team in the World Judo Juniors Championships 2021 (Olivia, Italy), Cadet & Jr Asian Judo Championship 2022 (Bangkok, Thailand), Senior Asian Open 2023 (Kuwait), and Senior Grand Prix 2023 (Croatia) .
On the other hand, Maibam Indubala Devi, 23, daughter of Amujao Singh of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, is currently being trained at Inspire Institute of Sports, Bellary.
She has won five gold medals in the national and inter university competitions - National Games 2022 (Gujarat), Sr National Judo Championships 2022 (Lucknow), Inter University Games 2022 (Jallandar), All India Inter University 2022 (Kanpur), and Khelo India University Games 2022 (Bengaluru).
Indubala had won a silver medal in the Asian Open 2023 (Kuwait) and also participated in the European Open 2022 (Madrid), Asian Judo Championship 2022 (Kazakhstan) and Dushanbe Grand Prix 2023 (Tajikistan), according to a press release from Manipur Judo Association, which has also extended its best wishes to the Indian team.
