PTRC brush aside PTCC, CHAMP beat ESU in MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, January 24 2025:
PTRC enjoyed a commanding 120 run victory over PTCC in Friday' league round match of the 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25 at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
After being sent in to bat, PTRC posted a competitive total of 239 before being dismissed in 35.1 overs.
The innings was anchored by Khangembam Santosh, who top-scored with a solid 68, while Chingakham Bidash contributed a gritty 59 .
Additional support came from Jotin Pheiroijam (26), Ngariyanbam Johnson (25), Salam Richie (18), and Raj Kumar Rex (16) .
For PTCC, Gemson Mutum emerged as the standout bowler, claiming an impressive 5-wicket haul.
Sohail Akram took 2 wickets, while Naorem Victor, Dominic Moirangthem, and Loukrakpam Anao picked up a wicket each.
In response, PTRC's disciplined bowling attack bowled out PTCC for just 119 in 31.5 overs.
Dominic Moirangthem (31) and Paonam Champion (27) were the only notable contributors with the bat for PTCC .
Tamarland Pheiroijam led the bowling effort for PTRC with 3 wickets, while Deepak and Chingakham Bidash claimed 2 wickets each.
Raj Kumar Rex and Bishworjit Konthoujam chipped in with a wicket apiece to seal PTRC's comprehensive victory.
Meanwhile, CHAMP Cricket Club beat ESU by 2 wickets at Model Hr Sec & Oriental College Ground.
Opting to field first, CHAMP's bowlers capitalised on the conditions, dismissing ESU for a modest 94 in 28.2 overs.
Chongtham Mehul Shreth (22) and Sagolshem Ronal Meitei (18) were the only ESU batters to reach double figures.
Chingakham Ranjan spearheaded CHAMP's bowling attack with a stellar 5-wicket haul, while Ahsanul Kabir took 2 wickets.
Keisham Ravishankar, Thingbaijam Nicholson, and Sultan Karim picked up one wicket each.
Despite chasing a modest target, CHAMP faced significant resistance, losing early wickets and finding themselves in trouble.
However, a determined unbeaten 25 from Sultan Karim and a steady 13 not out from Ahsanul Kabir guided their team to victory in 30.3 overs.
Contributions from Nongthombam Gulson (16) and Afjal Khan (10) also proved valuable.
Champ lost 8 wickets in the process.
