Football : Manipur vs Mizoram in final showdown

Manipur will lock horns against Mizoram in the ultimate clash of the 3rd North East Games Football tommorw.

Manipur who suffered a 0-4 loss to Mizoram in the group stage competition, sealed a 2-1 comeback win over hosts Nagaland at NAPTC ground, Chuoukedima to confirm their place in the final.

Mizoram on the other hand reached the final with a 2-0 victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the second semi-final match.

In the first semi-final match, both sides started competitively and exchanged some close runs before Neisede volleyed home the ball from a deflection following a corner kick in the 21st minute.

Despite Manipur's attempt to equalise, the first ended with Nagaland leading by a goal.

Manipur however showed more determination after the restart and pulled level after 52 minutes through Sanathoi who connected a fine cross into the box and dodged past a defender and the Nagaland keeper before tapping in the ball.

Sanathoi went on to complete his brace four minutes later and overturned the lead with a low drilling shot that hit the post before deflecting into the net.

Nagaland toiled hard to draw level but Manipur defenders were equal to the task to keep all threats at bay.
