Imphal, April 20 2019: TRAU, Kwakeithel beat CRAU by 1 run in an edge of the seat contest at the ongoing 1st MCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2019 at Langthabal Public Ground while YWC, Langthabal managed a 1 wicket win against CYCLONE, Thangmeiband at Heinoupok Ground.

In the match played at Langthabal, TRAU elected to bat first after winning the toss and stacked a modest total of 169 runs for 8 in 30 overs before a pulsating second innings that saw CRAU almost draw level but fell short by just one run.

Brilliant 36-ball 53 runs from Somokanta gave TRAU a good start to their innings while Ratipkumar (Not out) and Sanjit added 21 runs each before Rojit also contributed an unbeaten 19 runs to make it 169 at the end of the innings.

Oliver and Nikhil of CRAU put up a good show in the bowling and managed two wickets each while Lucky and Joyhenba took one wicket each.

In reply, CRAU were held to 168 runs for 6 in 30 overs as their batsmen could not make most of the runs in the last over.

Sanatomba top-scored with 36 runs in the chase for CRAU apart from Jodash (24), Bikash (31) and Prakash (16) who also made significant score.

TRAU's Rojit and Indrakumar bagged two wickets each in this innings and facilitate the crucial win while Apam and Somokanta also picked up one wicket apiece.

Somokanta was eventually adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Heinoupok ground, CYCLONE posted 125 runs total for all wickets down in 19.3 overs as S Robinson of YWC shone with 4 wickets and gave the Langthabal side a tough time in the chase but failed to contained as the target proved a bit small.

CYCLONE's Manglemba was close to hitting a half century but went out 4 runs away from the feat while Donny and Robinson added 24 and 10 runs before the following order fall flat to clinical YWC bowling.

S Robinson of YWC took 4 wickets in his 6 over spell and offered 24 runs while Seram Robinson, S Albert clinched 2 wickets each before Manikanta claimed one wicket.

In reply, Herojit (22), S Manou (15) and Manikanta (10) scored for YWC to give their team a close 1 wicket win.

Samsung picked up three wickets in this innings while Patil and Ronald scalped two wickets each in an effort to restrict the Langthabal side but the latter team managed to withstand the pressure and eased to the target lately in the 28th over with only one wicket left to spare.

Abhinash and Ronald Sharma also had one wicket each under their names.

S Robinson of YWC was named man of the match.

Model Club will meet YUC at Heinoupok in the next match while PTRC will play Al-Ameen in another match at Langthabal Public Ground.
