8th MNCA Elite Tournament : CHAMP, CYCLONE ease to second victories; RULE post first win

CHAMP Cricket Club, Khagempalli and CYCLONE, Thangmeiband sealed their second victories on the trot in the 8th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament as RULE beat Model Club by 4 wickets to register first win in two matches.
At Lairenjam Public Ground, CHAMP notched up a 60-run victory over TRAU, Kwakeithel by posting a competitive total of 221/6 before restricting TRAU to 161 runs in the chase.
Narsingh Yadav (75 off 90 balls), Md Sultan Karim (not out 47 off 30 balls), Lairenjam Ansh (40 off 46 balls) and Leikhram Joy (39 off 77 balls) led the scoring for CHAMP CC after being put in to bat first.

Mutum Swabhiman (3/23) and Somorjit Salam (2/50) of TRAU shared five wickets in this innings before they were bundled out for 161 runs in 42.2 overs despite Priyojit Kangabam scoring a 74-ball 61 and Yumnam Karnajit hitting a slow 80-ball 40 .
Md Sultan Karim led the bowling attack for CHAMP and got rid of four batters including Priyojit and Karnajit to return with the best figures of 4/34 in his spell of 9 overs as Nitesh Sedai (2/18) and Thingbaijam Nicholson (2/19) chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Md Sultan Karim was adjudged man of the match.
At Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, CYCLONE notched up a 7-wicket win over ESU by chasing down a target of 207 runs within 34.4 overs.
ESU elected to bat first but were bundled out for 206 runs in 44 overs despite half centuries from Chongtham Mehul Shreth (64-ball 59) and Thokchom Nishikanta (63-ball 57) as Nongmaithem Suraj (4/29 in 9 overs) and Abdul Kasim (3/36 in 9 overs) combined well to set up the batting collapse.
N Denin, L Santosh and Bikash also picked a wicket apiece for CYCLONE before Md Al Bashid (69 not out off 79 balls) and Kishan Laishram (50 not out off 64 balls) produced an unbroken 117 run partnership for the fourth wicket to take CYCLONE to the target after L Santosh 26 and Aditya Prasad 23 set the tone of the chase.
N Suraj of the winning side who enjoyed a four wicket haul was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, RULE, Meitram opened their winning account by beating Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha by 4 wickets.
Toss winners Model Club were bundled out for 129 as Nongthombam Sarojkumar (3/27) and Jay Singh (3/36) and Sanjenbam Ananda (2/16) ripped apart their batting line up before Sanjenbam Suresh 41 and RK Herachandra 27 led the RULE chase.
Model Club had a sloppy start and lost wickets in regular intervals and slumped to 129 all out in 39.4 overs despite Bijenkumar Nongmaithem's 34, Thoudam Deepak's 26 and Langlonyamba's 18.Thokchom Kishan picked a wicket and emerged the most economical bowler for RULE conceding only 11 runs in 7.4 overs that include 3 maidens.
In the chase, Sanjenbam Suresh, RK Herachandra, Chabungbam Ishorjit 18 and Sanjenbam Ananda 16 played their part to take RULE to winning 133 with four wickets left to spare in 40.4 overs.
For Model Club, Langlonyamba picked two wickets as four others grabbed a wicket apiece.
Jay Singh who picked three wickets and set up Sunil Salam's run out was adjudged man of the match.
