PYA, UPAA victorious in MK Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division League

Imphal, August 06 2019: PYA, Kairang and UPAA emerged victorious at ABA Ground, Kshetrigao in today's matches of the ongoing Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division organised by Imphal East District Football Association.

The 14th league match of the tournament saw PYA, Kairang edge past SAK, Yumnam Khunou by 2-1 goals to register their first win at the tournament after two successive draws in the previous matches.

Washimul Haque put PYA ahead in the 17th minute of the match while W Roshan doubled their advantage in the 57th minute when W Roshan made a fine run deep into SAK's territory and chipped in past the keeper.

SAK which were unable to make their effort count almost throughout the game got a consolation goal two minutes from time with the help of A Bipin but failed to draw level despite their last minute efforts.

Meanwhile, UPAA earned their third win of the tournament with a 2-0 finish against YOSC, Khurai Konsam Leikai thanks to second half brace by Y Bikash.

The two sides started the game neck and neck but lack of intensity and composure made them settle the first half in a goalless draw.

The second half also saw a similar beginning but Y Bikash goal for UPAA in the 58th minute changed the complexion of the game and YOSC were forced to up their momentum.

Their efforts however did not materialise and UPAA which were enjoying the lead fired home another through Bikash again late in the 88th minute and make their recovery impossible.

RAU will meet SAK in the next match on August 8 at 1 pm while XI Star will play YOSC latter at 3 pm .
