With a view to sensitising the community about the prevention and control aspect of HIV/AIDS, the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) in collaboration with District AIDS Prevention & Control Units (DAPCUs) has started live telecast of FIFA World Cup matches from quarter finals onwards in all the district headquarters and some sub-divisional HQs at Jiribam, Moreh and Chakpikarong.
A press release issued by Project Director of MACS, Pradeep Kumar Jha stated that before the commencement of World Cup matches, documentaries on HIV & AIDS will be screened for the general public.
To increase the number of HIV testing in the districts, five mobile Integrated Counselling & Testing Centre (ICTC) vans will be stationed in all the five hill districts where live telecast of matches is taking place.
Whereas, in the valley districts, makeshift ICTCs manned by counsellors and Lab.
Technicians have been opened at the venue.
Facility for counselling and tesing of HIV for the general public is available at the places where telecast of World Cup matches is going on.
The live telecast of World Cup matches is shown at Durga Puja Lampak, Wangkhei in Imphal East and Tuibong Social Welfare Club, Jiribam Sub-Division in Imphal East distrct, Thangmeiband Athletic Union (THAU) ground in Imphal West district, Kumbi bazar in Bishnupur district, Kakching in Thoubal district, Youth Hostel in Ukhrul town, Chakpikarong and Moreh in Chandel district, New Lamka YPA Hall and Tuibong Community Hall, Churachandpur in Churachandpur district, Indoor stadium, Senapati in Senapati district and Immanuel Baptist Church, Tamenglong HQs in Tamenglong district, the press release informed.
